Those cartridges,
Those box covers,
That rush of nostalgia!
If you're the kind of collector who wants to keep your retro games safe without hiding what makes them special, you've come to the right place.
The ”Retro Collection Case (RCC) by 3A Company” was designed from the ground up by collectors, for collectors.
The Retro Collection Case is a line of crystal-clear protective cases purpose-built for retro game software.
Every design decision — material, shape, fit, and finish — was personally overseen by 3A Company's founder, a collector with over 35 years of experience who set out to create the case he always wished existed.
The lineup covers 22 gaming platforms in total, including NES, SNES, Game Boy, PlayStation, and more. And because every case is made from the same material using the same process, your entire collection will have a clean, unified look no matter how many systems it spans.
The Retro Collection Case series has earned an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars on Amazon (as of March 2026, based on cumulative reviews).
Collectors across the globe have made it their go-to solution for protecting and displaying their games.
Most protective cases are designed around one thing: the game in your hand. The Retro Collection Case is designed around something bigger — your collection as a whole.
We use a soft, flexible polypropylene (PP) material that stays consistent across every title you add. Whether your shelf holds 10 games or 500, every case will match in clarity, thinness, beauty, protection, and ease of use.
Could a hard-shell case or UV-blocking case offer more protection in certain scenarios? Sure. But those cases come with trade-offs: bulk, rigidity, and a tinted appearance that dulls the colors and textures of the original packaging — the very things that make retro games worth collecting.
We made a deliberate choice: no hard plastic, no UV coating. Just a clean, flexible case that keeps your collection looking exactly the way it should.
◤ Why We Chose Soft Polypropylene
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Standard hard-shell cases (PET plastic) are tough but difficult to make thin — they bulk up your shelf and make the case itself obvious. UV coating adds a tint that distorts the original colors and feel of the packaging.
In terms of raw protection, hard-shell or UV-blocking cases may have an edge in certain scenarios. But they come with trade-offs: bulk and color distortion that compromise the look of your collection.
At 3A Company, we chose to balance real protection with display-quality aesthetics — letting your collection speak for itself.
◤ Soft and Flexible
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Don't let the slim profile fool you. The Retro Collection Case offers reliable everyday protection:
・Guards against scratches, dust, and dirt
・Absorbs impact without concentrating stress at any single point
・Holds up to repeated use — no significant scratching under normal handling
For UV exposure: store away from direct sunlight, fluorescent. Under LED lighting, fading won't be a concern.
◤ Designed with the Details Collectors Actually Care About
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
This case was built by someone who has been collecting for over 35 years and knows exactly what frustrates collectors about other cases.
Even shrink-wrapped mint-condition games fit perfectly — snug enough to stay secure, with enough give that you're not forcing anything.
And unlike hard cases with locking tabs that make removal a chore, the Retro Collection Case has no retention clips. Taking a game out and putting it back is effortless — whether you're playing it, lending it, or showing it off.

━━━━━━━━━━
Q: Why a soft case instead of a hard case?
━━━━━━━━━━
A: To protect your collection without compromising how it looks.
Hard-shell materials (like PET) are difficult to make thin, adding bulk that makes the case more visible than the game inside. Soft polypropylene lets us achieve a slim, barely-there profile while still offering real protection — keeping the original artwork front and center.
━━━━━━━━━━
Q: Does it block UV light?
━━━━━━━━━━
A: No — and that's intentional.
UV-blocking treatments add a tint that distorts your packaging's original colors and textures. To minimize fading, store your collection under LED lighting and away from direct sunlight, fluorescent tubes, and halogen lamps.
━━━━━━━━━━
Q: Will it work with special or oversized packaging?
━━━━━━━━━━
A: In most cases, no.
The case is designed around standard retail dimensions for each platform. Please check the listed dimensions before purchasing.
━━━━━━━━━━
Q: Can I stack cases on top of each other?
━━━━━━━━━━
A: A small stack of 2–3 is generally fine, but avoid stacking more — it may cause deformation over time. Storing upright on a shelf is recommended.
━━━━━━━━━━
Q: Is it durable? Will it break easily?
━━━━━━━━━━
A: Under normal use, no. Polypropylene distributes external force across the case rather than concentrating it at one point, making it resilient to everyday bumps and handling.
━━━━━━━━━━
Q: Will the case itself get scratched?
━━━━━━━━━━
A: Scratches can occur if rubbed against hard surfaces or handled roughly — but that's true of virtually any clear case. Under normal use, significant scratching is unlikely.
